RunTuner ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our RunTuner mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored in encrypted form).
  • Profile Information: Age, gender, weight, height, and fitness experience level that you voluntarily provide to help us personalize your training plans.
  • Running Goals: Your target race distance, goal pace, weekly training volume, and other fitness objectives.
  • Communications: When you contact our support team, we collect the content of your messages.

1.2 Health and Fitness Data

With your explicit permission, RunTuner may access health and fitness data from Apple HealthKit, including but not limited to:

  • Running workouts (distance, duration, pace, route)
  • Heart rate data during workouts
  • Active energy burned and step count
  • VO2 Max (where available)
  • Sleep data (where you grant permission)

Important: We will never use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing purposes. HealthKit data will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent, except as necessary to provide the Service (e.g., secure cloud storage of your training history) or as required by law. HealthKit-derived data will not be sold to data brokers.

1.3 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version.
  • Usage Data: Features you use, screens you visit, actions you take within the app, and session duration.
  • Crash Reports and Diagnostics: Technical information about app crashes and performance to help us improve the Service.
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, and referring URLs (for our website).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including generating personalized AI training plans and coaching advice.
  • Process and store your workout data so you can track progress over time.
  • Authenticate your account and ensure the security of your data.
  • Send you training reminders, plan updates, and service-related notifications (you may opt out of non-essential notifications at any time).
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and requests for customer support.
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve user experience and develop new features.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities, and protect the rights and property of RunTuner and its users.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information or health data. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We work with trusted third-party companies to help us operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, authentication). These providers are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
  • AI Processing: Your workout data and profile information may be processed by AI model providers to generate personalized training plans and coaching responses. This processing is performed under confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice in the app prior to your information being transferred.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7 below). After deletion, we may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention) for up to 90 days, after which it will be permanently deleted or anonymized.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/HTTPS.
  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest.
  • Secure authentication using Supabase Auth with industry-standard protocols.
  • Regular security reviews and access controls for our team.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

RunTuner is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at runtunerapp@gmail.com and we will promptly delete such information.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data. You can do this from the app's Settings > Account > Delete Account, or by contacting us.
  • Data Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-Out of Marketing: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in the email or updating your notification preferences in the app.
  • HealthKit Permissions: You can revoke HealthKit access at any time through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.

8. Third-Party Services and Links

The Service may integrate with or contain links to third-party services (e.g., Apple HealthKit, RevenueCat for subscriptions, analytics providers). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with RunTuner.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure that any international transfer of data is conducted in compliance with applicable law and with appropriate safeguards to protect your privacy.

10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your browsing experience and analyze traffic. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the website. The RunTuner mobile app does not use cookies.

11. Apple App Store Specific Disclosures

RunTuner is distributed through the Apple App Store. In connection with your use of the app:

  • Apple is not responsible for our app or this Privacy Policy and has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for RunTuner.
  • Subscription payments are processed by Apple. We do not have access to your full payment card details.
  • Apple may collect certain data in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy.
